Synopsis

Rotozaza presents the Philadelphia Premiere of Etiquette, a thirty minute theater experience designed for two and set in public.

The unique experimental theater production, which does not feature a cast or crew, offers participants the opportunity to be both performer and audience. Held at the Last Drop Coffeehouse, audiences will star in their very own production, guided by a script fed through a pair of headphones. Other café patrons may be sitting nearby, but no one will know that a performance is taking place.

Through the audio guide, Rotozaza will lead participants into several micro-situations, often borrowed from theater and film, including lines from Jean-Luc Godard in classic film noir fashion. Etiquette offers the fantasy of speaking with someone without having to plan what you say, exposing human communication at its rawest and most delicate, and exploring the difficulty of turning our thoughts into words we can trust.

Etiquette can only be performed by two people at a time. Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to your scheduled performance time. Native speakers of Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, or Spanish, have the option to perform Etiquette in their native language. Consult the Live Arts House Manager upon arrival at the Last Drop.
