Synopsis


Summer Shorts 2 is an annual festival of new American short plays.

SERIES A

The Waters of March, by Leslie Lyles, directed by Billy Hopkins, starring Amy Irving
A woman who has devoted herself to her career comes to the ultimate crossroad.

Crossing the Border, by Eduardo Machado, directed by Randall Myler, starring Mando Alvarado and Gio Perez
South of the border, a father and son get caught up in baseball fever -- but not for the usual reasons.

On a Bench, by Neil Koenigsberg, directed by Merri Milwe, starring Mary Joy and David Beck
A teenage boy sits in a New York park reading a book about the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots. When he is joined by a middle-aged woman, their brief encounter reveals hidden truths.

Deep in the Hole, by Roger Hedden, directed by Billy Hopkins, starring J.J. Kandel, David Ross, Emily Tremaine, and Kendra Mylnechuk
There's something amiss in the Heartland as Ben, Glen, Cindy, and Lindy drink cheap vodka and hook-up.

In which a small, tasteful Greek wedding is about to take place on the beach in Martha's Vineyard. George is moments away from marrying Sandi, but can't come up with his vows. His older brother Leo does his best to help out, but with the patriarch of their restaurant family recently deceased, the boys find they are both struggling with what it means to "man up."

Plaisir D'Amour, book by Terrence McNally, music and lyrics by Skip Kennon, directed by Elizabeth Lucas, starring Jonathan C. Kaplan, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, and Rita Harvey
Ruth and Sam meet thirty years ago at a Carnegie Hall lieder recital and begin an ever accelerating ride through love, joy, pain, and eventual compromise.
