Brooks Ashmanskas, Lisa Brescia, Jenn Colella, Randy Graff, Michael McElroy and Max von Essen will star in The Kennedy Center's Broadway: Three Generations, which will officially re-open the renovated Eisenhower Theater. Lonny Price will direct staged concert performances, October 2-5.
This three act evening features condensed versions of George & Ira Gershwin's musical comedy Girl Crazy, with von Essen as Danny Churchill, Graff as Kate Fothergill, Ashmanskas as Slick Fothergill, and Colella as Molly Gray ; Bye Bye Birdie, featuring music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Lee Adams and book by Michael Stewart, and starring Ashmanskas as Albert Peterson, Brescia as Mrs. MacAfee, and Graff as Mae Peterson; and Henry Krieger & Bill Russell's Side Show, with Colella as Daisy Hilton, Brescia as Violet Hilton, McElroy as Jake, and von Essen as Terry Connor.
The production will feature sets by James Noone, lighting by Ken Billington, and sound design by Peter Hylenski. James Moore is the music director and Tom Briggs serves as adaptor.
