 | | Timothy Near | The full cast and creative team have been announced for the California Shakespeare Theater production of Uncle Vanya, adapted by Emily Mann and directed by Timothy Near, August 6-31.
Written in Tsarist Russia, Anton Chekov's tragicomic masterpiece presents dashed dreams, thwarted love, and eternal longing on a country farm owned by retired professor, Alexander Serebryakov.
The cast will feature James Carpenter as Alexander Serebryakov, Dan Hiatt as Ivan Vanya Voynitsky, Andy Murray as Mikhail Astrov, Joan Mankin as Maria Voynitsky, Barbara Oliver as Marina, Annie Purcell as Sonya, Howard Swain as Ilya Telegin, T. Louis Weltz as the Workman, and Sarah Grace Wilson as Yelena, wife of Serebryakov.
The creative team will include Raquel M. Barreto (costume design), Erik Flatmo (set design), York Kennedy (lighting design), and Jeff Mockus (sound design).
