The world premiere musical Marguerite, featuring music by Michel Legrand, book by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Jonathan Kent, and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer from the original French lyrics by Alain Boublil, will have its original cast recording released on First Night Records on July 28.

The production, which is directed by Jonathan Kent, and choreographed by Arthur Pita, is currently at the Theatre Royal Haymarket until November 1. It stars Ruthie Henshall, Julien Ovenden, and Alexander Hanson, and is inspired by Alexandre Dumas' La Dame aux Camélias, Marguerite (Henshall) is the beautiful and notorious mistress of Otto (Hanson), a high ranking German officer in Paris during the Second World War. Armand (Ovenden) is a young musician half her age who falls obsessively in love with her.

The cast also includes Annalene Beechey (Annette), Matt Cross (Pierrot), Don Gallagher (Georges), and Simon Thomas (Lucien), with Mark Carroll, Keiron Crook, James Doherty, Siubhan Harrison, Jon-Paul Hevey, Julia Nagle, Duncan Smith, Gay Soper, Phillip Sutton, and Lucy Williamson. The design team includes Paul Brown (sets and costumes), Mark Henderson (lighting), and Paul Groothuis (sound).

In related news, Kent will direct a Japanese production at the Akasaka ACT in Tokyo in February, which will later travel to Osaka, and plans are underway for Spanish and French productions of the musical.
